via the Li River Cruise. The water is very low right
now so I guess we cruise only for about 2 hours and
then get off, meet our bus driver who takes us to
Yuangshou. Our little group of 4 families is
apparently the one-half-million visitors to Guilin and
our guide has been getting calls from the government
all day because they want to have some sort of
celebration. We really don't know whats going on but
it should be quite fun and interesting. Something
about being on TV and in the newspaper and they wanted
someone from our group to do a speech or something - I
think Jeff volunteered - we are all cracking up and
can't wait to see what happens when we arrive at the
boat tomorrow.
This is a very, very pretty town - beautiful in fact.
The park right across from our hotel is amazing -
CHloe and I strolled today while Gige was napping. It
completely lights up at night as well.
Our guide took Patsy, Chloe and her own 6 year old
daughter (who is just learning English) to the square
tonight - not real sure what it is called officially
but we were there for lunch today and I guess it just
lights up at night - especially on the weekend. There
are little cars that the kids can drive around - chloe
made a picture that was somehow microwaved and turned
out pretty cool. Mom then walked over to this building
(at xixi's direction) where they have this waterfall
show - it is a really tall building and they play
music and lights and all this water comes out of the
top of the building and waterfalls down the side of it
- we both were wishing I had given her my camera to
take with. They all had a really good time and it was
nice for CHloe to meet/hang out with someone her own
age again.
Today we went to seven star park - beauitiful - they
have this rock formation with a large hole right
through the middle of it - it is pretty cool and these
elephant statues that are pretty cool too. China does
their scenery very well here - especially their parks!
Not sure if I will have access to a computer at the
hotel tomorrow but may try to load some more pics. I
had tried to load a really cute video of chloe and
Gige but it was taking way too long - the net is
extremely slow at this hotel but the food is better
than all the rest so I won't complain.
Ciao for now.
PS: if anyone has a good recipe for sticky rice - I
would love to have it. Xixi bought us all some to eat
on the bus from Nanning to Guilin and it was so darn
good. It has yellow stuff in it that I thought was egg
but it some sort of bean that is peeled and only the
inside is used - it is so darn yummy and a perfect on
the go thing for the babies!!!
