We are trudging along through the hot but stormy month of August. I think August has become NEs new rainy season - could that be possible? The storms passing through in the last few weeks have been very bizarre and strong and in multitude for lack of a better word! My backyard always a warzone (due to the monsters; rabbit eater and whiner) has become more so with all of the branches literally everywhere - the monsters don't even like going outside anymore as they are always tripping over something! And poor IL, felt bad for them since I have friends there - they have truly been hit hard as was OH and other states across the Midwest. Anyone not believing in the whole GW thing? Hey, read the book, see the movie then lets debate! You'll have to take your head out of the sand first though :-)
Best laid plans....I decided to take some vacation- I wasn't going to because I've been saving up for my FMLA but I just had to - I went 8 months with no vacation to speak of and just all of a sudden decided I needed one and what more perfect time than right before C goes back to school (FIRST GRADE - I CAN'T BELIEVE IT). So I took off Thurs - Tues. Thursday morning C woke up with a bad cough and a low grade fever. Poor thing - I felt so bad for her as she was so looking forward to us going to movies, to the zoo etc. IBP brought the fever down, Delsym controlled the cough and Doc said to call back if it got worse. We did manage to catch "Underdog" which she really enjoyed (have to admit it was pretty cute) but the next day she had a 104.7 - off to the Doc we go. NO evidence of anything serious but Doc was very, very suspicious of pnemonia and recommended treatment for that. I had no idea something like that could come on so quickly. Needless to say we didn't do much during our vacation but did spend q-time together so thats something.
C has turned into an obsessed child stalker of Hannah Montanna. I am not kidding. We ran across a HM wig at Claires a few days ago and she decided on her own that she would start saving the $20 to buy it at a later date. We walked around a bit and I couldn't resist buying it for her (I would have felt very differently had she been whining and begging me for it but maybe she is well versed in reverse psychology as far as her mother is concerned? Hmmmm). One Saturday morning, I was awakened to the sounds of hannah montana at 8:00am (believe me this is me sleeping in!). I trudged down the hall - opened the basement door and heard a karaoke blast of "Nobodys Perfect" - I crept down the steps and sure enough - Chlo is in her pajamas, has her wig on, microphone held up - belting out her favorite HM song! I have to say there are much worse ways to wake up don't you think? :-)
Little does she know, with the help of sister Chris, Chloe and I will be attending the HM concert on 10/23 at the Qwest center. I haven't decided yet at which point I will tell Chlo - maybe I will wait until we actually get to the Qwest? I tried to keep the whole thing quiet initially just in case I couldn't get tickets (they sold out here in about 20 minutes believe it or not) but it was ALL OVER the radio.
C: Mommy, did you hear THAT??????
M: What?
C: Hannah Montana is coming HERE to OMAHA, NEBRASKA!!!!
M: She is? Wow [dag nammitt - why did I have to have the radio on??]
